According to the Census Bureau, there are over 3.5 million truck drivers in America alone. And millions of others across the globe. Drivers are working hard to meet the needs of consumers during this pandemic, while at the same time, ensuring they are following all government orders and safety regulations. To honor truck drivers as they continue delivering essential goods as frontline workers, Geotab has initiated our own #ThankATrucker program.
Truck drivers are essential workers
During uncertain times like these, to ensure items such as food is delivered to grocery stores and personal protective equipment is delivered to hospitals, truck drivers have been helping in every way they can. Geotab recognizes and appreciates the work being done by essential workers, like truck drivers, on a daily basis.
The trucking industry is a key link in the supply chain for every country. Now more than ever, truck drivers are needed, as many around the world are in dire and ever-increasing need of sanitation supplies, ventilators, masks, medication and much more.
Impact on commercial activity
According to Geotab’s datasets based on an analysis of anonymized and aggregated insights, commercial transportation activity in North America has slightly dropped in the last two months. This can be attributed to the emergency stay-at-home orders for many provinces and states.
However, commercial transportation activity to grocery stores dropped the least, retaining 90% of normal activity. This activity comprises both of services and delivery of goods which truck drivers work day and night to provide. How to show support
In the #ThankATrucker program, Geotab will be working with our Partners and Resellers to show support to drivers in the frontlines
If you are proud of the extraordinary work that truck drivers are doing and want to show your appreciation, participate in the efforts in your local community. If you would like to partner with Geotab in our efforts, get involved by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
